Morgan Wallen Foundation Launches Nashville Music Education Program
Morgan Wallen has launched a music education foundation that will fund after-school programs in Nashville public schools, providing instruments, instruction, and mentorship to students in underserved communities. The Morgan Wallen Foundation, announced at an event in downtown Nashville, has committed five million dollars over five years to establish music programs in fifteen schools that currently lack dedicated music education resources.
Wallen, whose personal and professional life has been marked by both controversy and remarkable commercial success, described the foundation as an attempt to use his platform for lasting positive impact. He said music changed the trajectory of his own life growing up in Sneedville, Tennessee, and expressed a desire to ensure that young people in Nashville have similar opportunities regardless of their economic circumstances.
The program will provide each participating school with a full set of instruments, a part-time music instructor, and access to a network of Nashville songwriters and producers who will serve as mentors. Students who demonstrate exceptional ability will be eligible for scholarships to attend summer music camps and, eventually, post-secondary music programs. The foundation has partnered with several Nashville music organizations to develop the curriculum.
